Absolutely wonderful 2 weeks at this great oceanfront home. Private, quiet, comfortable. Loved having kayaks there for our use. The back porch was used every afternoon and evening. Nice having the bedrooms on each end of this lovely home, for privacy. As far as I am concerned, this is one of the best homes to rent on Molokai!! Nice breezes kept the home cool. Great owners. Lots of coconuts on the property and fresh papayas and mangos found just walking down the road. I would not consider renting any home when we return to this charming island.
One day we did the Halawa Valley Cultural hike, one day we went to town and then went to the beach to watch the sunset, one day we went to the old Leper Colony. All magical and wonderful experiences. We simply cannot wait to get back there again. I have already told my parents that they need to book here, and when we do go back, I won't stay anywhere else.

This place is so great I almost don't want to write about it, in fear that everyone will find it. But the hosts were so nice, I decided to take that risk. If you are looking for party all night entertainment, this is not your place. It is the perfect retreat from the noise and confusion of daily life. Beautiful setting wonderful garden, perfect bungalow. If you need a city break you can always do a day trip to Maui.
Here are the things that I wish I would have been aware of however. The island is small. We flew in late on a Sunday night and stores were closed. We swung by the one store that we found and got some food for breakfast, but we didn't get coffee because we assumed that the house would have coffee. While there was a coffee maker, there was NO coffee there. Yes, it clearly says in the description that there is no coffee, we get locked into hotel mentality and we simply forgot. The stores were far enough away that it was inconvenient to go grab a coffee that first morning. Just plan ahead and if you like coffee or tea, be sure to bring your own.
Same with shampoo and conditioner. Being used to hotels, we didn't bring our own, and didn't realize that there was no shampoo or conditioner until after we got back from the store getting coffee! Oops! Again, not a problem, it was listed in the description, we just didn't cognizance it, and we wish we would have known in advance.

The first words spoken upon opening the door to the beachfront HOUSE was WOW! The view from the back deck overlooking Maui is awesome and the whales put on quite a show for us during the week in February that we stayed here. We were impressed with the solid construction of the house, the hardwood floors and how well equipped it was. The house was clean, the grounds are well cared for and it is quite a peaceful location. There is a tub in one bedroom and a shower in the other, but we used neither. The outdoor shower is divine! A must use while you stay. There is nothing like showering outside under the palms with a view of the ocean-still missing it! The kitchen comes equipped with everything you need. There is a good selection of pots, pans and dishes. We cooked some wonderful meals and very much enjoyed the view of the ocean right out the window while we were prepping. There is also a propane barbecue outside, off the lanai for use. There is a washer and dryer outside beside the house in a shed which worked well. There are outside loungers for use on the lawn, and the beach in front of the house was very private. We drove around Molokai in all directions and we all agreed that we lucked out in renting this property and would highly recommend it.
The beauty and serenity of Hale KaiNalu defies description. Our stay here exceeded all that we could have asked or hoped for on a tropical island. All of our senses came alive to the sights, sounds, fragrances and feel of this peaceful place by the sea. Hale KaiNalu is a rare gem that accents well the extraordinary unspoiled beauty of Molokai.
Everything was very clean (I'm sensitive to smells, dirt, etc. and this property met and exceeded my expectations) and was just as described. The cottage truly feels larger than the pictures show. The grounds were very well maintained too, and the owners were very responsive. When we left we inadvertently forgot to carry the trash out, so we texted in a panic, and they responded right away.
We arrived late at night, and it was a bit tough to find the property because there are literally no lights on the island. Tired, a bit stressed and confused we tumbled into bed (which was very comfortable) and fell asleep. When we awoke, it was like waking up in a dream! The cottage was charming, but the property was pure heaven! Kayaks, a small private beach, a lush lawn with palm trees, and outdoor shower, OMG, we never wanted to leave!
Truly magical! We can’t wait to go back again! There was just so much magic here!
It depends on what YOU want in a vacation, but we wanted to get away and to relax and reconnect and this property was perfect for that. We weren't close to town (but there was a gas station/store/eatery near by) and wasn't in a tourist area. It was close enough that we could drive to wherever we wanted to go, but when we got back we could completely relax and unwind and get away. Which is what we wanted.
