So I strongly suggest going here first or at a minimum walking here just after eating breakfast at the bakery on the other side of the street. I don't think it is possible to have a bad trip to Molokai if you follow her advice.

Kalele Bookstore is in the center of Kaunakakai and it's owner Teri Waros (Aunty Teri) is the pu'uwai (heart)❤️

Beautiful art pieces, as well as quality trinkets... something for everyone in a friendly Molokai atmosphere!

Our Molokai stop for Uncruise - Auntie Teri and her staff were the best!

So many folks come and go daily, local folks and visitors, it's great fun! If you stick around long enough you might just see someone start dancing hula spontaneously or a ukulele jam session! So many wonderful local gifts and artwork and so many books gracing the shelves! If I have the opportunity to be on my favorite island, Kalele is the place I love to go!

It's a nice store with mostly local arts and goods. The collection of books are great but the primary reason this should be your first stop in Molokai is Teri (aka Auntie Teri). She cared for us like we were close family visiting her home town for the first time. She whipped through our map and noted what we shouldn't miss, why, and who to see while there. Our entire trip ended up being based on her suggestions and each were nothing short of perfect.

This is a charming shop with a mix of books, jewelry, music and momentos. Terry, the owner is delightful and engaging full of history and Island wisdom. Her two laid-back dogs are sweet watchers of the store. Its a warm Molokai embrace.
